Our ministry at West Harrow happens in the context of parish, borough & city church. It interweaves commitment to local community, conservation & environment, and inter faith dialogue. It includes spiritual accompaniment and other listening ministries which happen locally and further afield.
Where we live is one of the most multi-cultural areas in the UK. The challenge for the local borough is to build community. We can be part of that. As neighbours. As members of local churches and forums and by developing our understanding of other faiths.
Sister Vivien is involved in IGR retreats and spiritual direction. She works with the Sisters of St Andrew at Edenbridge and is part of an ecumenical team. She is a guest director at Loyola Hall Spirituality Centre at Rainhill, close to Liverpool, and is a member of a retreat team which goes to Upsala in Sweden. Vivien is a lay Chaplain at St. Martin in the Fields, London, and part of a lay ministry team of a local church where she takes home communion to those unable to attend the church. Vivien also has a long standing interest in inter faith encounter.
Ruth worships at a local church. Particular interests are inter faith dialogue and environmental work. Gardening too: important for the soul-journey. Ruth has a watching-brief for justice & peace and produces our CSCUK Justice & Peace Bulletin. She is also involved in spiritual accompaniment and bereavement listening.
Our home together is about ‘creating Community’ of which saying the Divine Office together is a central part. Time together to relax and time for retreat alone are part of our journey of living and growing together.
